Dr. Iyad Rahwan is an Associate Professor at the Masdar Institute, a Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab, and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. He holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Rahwan's research deals with various aspects of collective intelligence, from the point of view of technical systems (eg., coordination among software agents) and socio-technical systems (eg., social Web media). He is a Founding Editor of the Journal of Argument & Computation, Associate Editor of the Knowledge Engineering Review and the Journal of Autonomous Agents & Multiagent Systems, and has been an invited editor of a special issue of IEEE Intelligent Systems. He won the "Best Technical Paper Award" at the International Conference on Electronic Commerce in 2007.
