Dr. Amer Al-Hinai received a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman in 1997 and joined the University as a Demonstrator in 1998. He received his M.Sc. and PhD in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University, Morgantown, USA in December 2000 and May 2005, respectively.

Dr. Amer is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at Sultan Qaboos University. Currently, he is a visiting professor at  Masdar Institute of Science & Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE. In addition he is holding a member position at the Authority of Electricity Regulation – Oman. His areas of interest are Power Systems: Control and Operation, Multi-Agent Systems: Application to Control of Power Systems, Optimization Techniques and Applications to Power Systems. Dr. Amer carried out more than 20 research projects related to energy savings, power system analysis, power system quality and transient stability of power systems.

He has published over 30 research papers in international journals and conferences. Beside his research activities, Dr. Amer conducted several training/short course sessions in the field of Electrical Power System. , Dr. Amer is IEEE senior member, Secretary of Oman IEEE section, and Vice President of Oman PES chapter.
