About Abu Dhabi

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is one of seven emirates that constitute the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the largest emirate by area (67,340 km²), accounting for approximately 86% of the total land area of the UAE. The seat of the President of the United Arab Emirates is located in Abu Dhabi city, which also hosts the federal government, foreign embassies and many oil companies.

Abu Dhabi infuses luxury and style with traditional values of hospitality and respect. It’s a place where sunny weather, tranquil beaches, lush oases, vibrant city life and a mixture of culture and traditions come together to create an experience like no other.

Living in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is an exciting, vibrant, multi-cultural city and a truly international capital. It is one of the most talked about cities in the world – because there is so much going on. Every day there is something new in Abu Dhabi.

Located at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a country with a heritage of tolerance and openness and a well-deserved reputation for welcoming citizens from more than 200 countries.

The UAE is a federation of seven Emirates of which Abu Dhabi is one. The others are Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain.

The UAE is the sixth largest oil producer in the world and the oil and gas industries remain the main economic drivers in the UAE’s economy. The UAE government’s forward-looking strategy is to diversify away from dependence on oil and gas revenues, and guided by this vision Abu Dhabi is rapidly transforming into a dynamic, cosmopolitan metropolis and global capital city. It is building world-class leisure, cultural, entertainment and academic facilities that have attracted international attention.

Comfort In The Capital
Life for residents includes world-class shopping malls, luxury hotels, movie theatres, galleries and museums, access to beaches and multiple sporting activities. The media industry offers a variety of Arabic and English-language daily newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines, and a wide range of radio and TV stations. The country consistently leads the rankings of Internet and mobile phone connectivity in the region, with wireless Internet access a common feature of most airports, cafes, shopping malls and hotels.

The proximity of Dubai to Abu Dhabi means that the leisure, retail, recreation, healthcare, and business infrastructure and services of the two cities are shared by their residents. Both cities boast a large number of music, art and cultural activities and festivals that are easily accessible to all residents.
