Masdar Institute research centers provide the Institute with a scalable mechanism for engaging industry and government in research, development, demonstration and deployment (RDD&D). The centers that are established will be closely aligned with Masdar and other Abu Dhabi entities that are involved in sectors that are of strategic importance to Abu Dhabi’s economic development plans.

- Solar energy
- Established Collaborators: Masdar Power, Masdar City
- Established Collaborators: Masdar Power, Masdar City
- Established Collaborators: International Renewable Energy Agency /Department of Energy and Climate Change UAE

Alignment between Masdar and Masdar Institute for the development of each center will yield world-class research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) capabilities that:
- Attract industrial partners that are aligned with Masdar’s vision and mission.
- Leverage Masdar Institute’s fundamental research and technology development capabilities.
- Leverage Masdar’s large scale demonstration and deployment capabilities.
